Obsidian Air DIY Mouse Skates — Less Noise, More Control

40 hardened PTFE dot skates, 0.9mm thick × 6.5mm diameter, with a hard, finely frosted surface — built for maximum control and emergency stop on cloth and glass mouse pads, with less noise than the standard Obsidian.

40 Dots / Pack Hardened PTFE Less Noise

DIY PTFE Dot Skates Tuned for Quieter Control

The Obsidian Air DIY Mouse Skates are universal 0.9mm × 6.5mm PTFE dots in the Obsidian family — built for control and stopping power, refined for less noise. The hard, finely frosted surface increases friction at the contact point; the hardened PTFE adds braking power for emergency stops and tap-shot precision — without the louder slide of standard skates.

Apply as many or as few as you want. Fewer dots = faster glide. More dots = more control and slower stop. Tune your skates the way you tune your sensitivity.

Obsidian Air DIY mouse skates feature overview — hardened PTFE dots, finely frosted surface, less noise design

Key Features of the Obsidian Air Mouse Skates

01

Less Noise — Air Refinement

Tuned to slide quieter than the standard Obsidian — same control character, lower acoustic signature. Better for shared spaces, late-night sessions, and recording.

02

Hardened PTFE Material

Harder than standard PTFE — the dots resist deformation and deliver more braking power for emergency stops and controlled tap-shot aim.

03

Finely Frosted Surface

Hard, finely frosted contact surface — increases friction against cloth and glass pads for cleaner stops and no overshoot.

04

DIY Tunability

Fewer dots = faster, slipperier glide. More dots = slower, more controlled stop. Lay them out the way your aim style needs.

Speed in the Obsidian Lineup

Where Obsidian Air sits on the glide-to-control scale (measured on AC PRO MID):

1

Obsidian

Fastest in the family — most glide, less braking.

2

Obsidian Air

This product. A touch slower than Obsidian, with less noise.

3

Obsidian Pro

More control, more brake, less glide than Air.

4

Obsidian Pro Air

Slowest in the line — maximum control, lowest noise.

Glide/braking ranking: Obsidian > Obsidian Air > Obsidian Pro > Obsidian Pro Air. Measured on AC PRO MID mouse pad.

FAQ

How is Obsidian Air different from regular Obsidian?
Both use hardened PTFE with a finely frosted surface for control and stopping power. Obsidian Air is tuned to slide a little slower with less noise — same control character, quieter acoustic signature. Pick Air if you share a space, record, or just prefer a softer slide; pick standard Obsidian if you want a touch more glide.
Where does Obsidian Air sit in the lineup?
On the glide-to-control scale, ranked fastest to slowest: Obsidian → Obsidian Air → Obsidian Pro → Obsidian Pro Air. Air sits between standard Obsidian and the Pro variants. Measured on AC PRO MID mouse pad.
How many dots should I use per mouse?
Start with the same number and positions as your mouse's original feet. From there: add more dots to slow the glide and increase control, or remove dots to speed up. Most builders find their preferred layout within a few attempts.
Will these work on my mouse pad?
Yes for cloth and glass mouse pads. Not recommended for coated or plastic mouse pads — the hardened, frosted surface is tuned for the texture of cloth and glass.
Are these the best skates for quiet control gameplay?
For players who prioritise stopping power and tap-shot control but want to keep the slide quieter, the Obsidian Air is one of the better DIY options — same hardened PTFE braking character as the standard Obsidian, refined for lower noise.
