Surface Character

Low-Speed Cloth Surface with Sharp Start and High Stopping Power

Zero excels at delivering a sharp, clean initial glide followed by crisp texture feedback from its rough knit fabric. The result: a low-friction breakaway when you flick, then strong, predictable stopping power for the placement frame.

This is what makes Zero the go-to surface for tactical FPS aim — stable enough for precision micro-adjustments, controlled enough that your crosshair lands where you tell it to instead of drifting past.

Why Tactical FPS Players Choose the Artisan Zero

01

Sharp Start

Low static friction lets your mouse break free instantly on the first input — no sticky lift-off, no delayed flick.

02

Rough Knit Fabric, Crisp Feedback

The distinctive textured weave delivers strong tactile feedback through the sensor and your hand — easier to feel and place micro-adjustments mid-spray.

03

High Stopping Power

Confident, predictable stops — the core trait of a low-speed surface. Your crosshair lands exactly where you place it instead of drifting past the target.

Artisan Zero Base Types — XSOFT vs SOFT vs MID

The Zero surface ships on three different rubber base firmnesses. Pick the base that matches your aim style — same low-speed top surface, different feel underneath.

Base Type Firmness Strengths Ideal Aiming Style
XSOFT Very Soft Highest stopping power Tap-shot / recoil-control heavy (Valorant, CS2)
SOFT Moderately Soft Most versatile within the Zero line Wide range of tactical FPS playstyles
MID Firm More consistent glide on a low-speed top Players who want a firmer feel with Zero's stopping power

Quick guide: Tap-shot players in Valorant and CS2 typically pick XSOFT or SOFT for the deepest stopping power. New to Artisan Zero? SOFT is the safest first pick. MID suits players who want the firmest feel without giving up Zero's control character.

Artisan FX Zero Mousepad FAQ

Is the Artisan Zero a control or speed mousepad?
The FX Zero is a low-speed cloth surface — that's how ARTISAN officially classifies it. It's a control-focused pad with a sharp start, high stopping power, and a distinctive rough knit fabric. If you want a faster surface, look at ARTISAN's mid-speed or high-speed pads instead.
Which Artisan Zero base type should I pick — XSOFT, SOFT, or MID?
XSOFT sinks deepest for the highest stopping power — best for tap-shot and recoil-control heavy play. SOFT is the most versatile and forgiving — the safest first choice if you're not sure. MID is the firmest, with a more consistent glide while keeping Zero's low-speed character on top.
Is the Zero the best low-speed mousepad for Valorant or CS2?
The Zero is one of the most respected low-speed pads for tactical shooters. The combination of a sharp start, rough knit fabric, and high stopping power makes it especially popular for tap-shot and recoil-control games like Valorant and CS2, where placement on the first frame matters more than long-distance tracking speed.
What size should I get — XL or XXL?
XL is the most popular all-purpose FPS size — comfortable for arm-aim with room for the keyboard alongside. XXL covers the full desk for very low sensitivities and full-arm aiming. Toronto KeyboardMan currently carries both. (ARTISAN officially produces S, M, and L as well, but those are not currently stocked here.)
What is the surface material?
100% polyester cloth with ARTISAN's distinctive rough knit weave — engineered in Japan for a sharp start and crisp tactile feedback while delivering high stopping power.
How is the Zero different from other Artisan mousepads?
Within the Artisan lineup, Zero sits in the Low-Speed Surface category — control-focused with a rough knit fabric and high stopping power. Faster Artisan pads (mid-speed and high-speed surfaces) trade some of that stopping power for longer, smoother glides. If you want one pad that handles tactical FPS aim with confident stops, Zero is the canonical pick.
