Butterfly Ruin — Coating-Free Medium-Grain Glass Mousepad
A coating-free glass mousepad from Unclepanda — no chemical coating, no sprayed finish. The medium-grain texture is etched directly into the glass substrate for a purely dry, native glide with natural, authentic damping. Balanced between speed and control, topped with a black-lip abalone shell medallion at the top-left corner.
- Coating-free glass pad — grain etched into the substrate, not sprayed on top.
- Medium grain, balanced glide — neither all-speed nor all-brake.
- 2 mm glass · 0.8 mm custom-molded base — 490 × 420 mm surface.
- Black-lip abalone shell medallion at the top-left corner.
- Leather storage case included.

Black-lip abalone. Inlaid.
A signature medallion crafted from black-lip abalone shell is embedded flush at the top-left corner. The iridescent shell shifts pink → green → gold depending on light angle — a small, hand-finished detail that marks the pad as a proper Unclepanda piece.

The sweet spot between speed and control.
Butterfly Ruin chases neither all-out top speed nor aggressive braking — it lives at the balanced middle. The grain gives tangible textural feedback; glides stay well-modulated without unruly drift, and every movement is gently moderated by the surface. Wide sweeping flicks flow smoothly; aim holds firmly during abrupt stops. Micro-adjust or full swipe, the glide character stays fully consistent.
Nothing between your mouse and the glass.
Most glass pads carry a sprayed coating that defines the glide feel — and wears off. Butterfly Ruin does not. The medium-grain texture is etched directly into the glass substrate, so what you feel on day one is what you feel a year in. Dry, native, authentic — with a natural damping that no coating can imitate.

Illustrated by Dandi.
Silver hair caught in the wind, a red eye peering through, blue butterflies breaking loose from a shattered black-and-white world. The Butterfly Ruin artwork is printed edge-to-edge across the glass, colour reproduction locked deep into the substrate so it stays vivid through years of play.

A case worthy of the glass.
Every Butterfly Ruin ships in a leather storage case — snug enough to hold the 490 × 420 mm pad securely, soft-lined on the inside to protect the glass surface and abalone medallion during transport or storage.
